Half-term happenings

Whew - what a busy half term we've had. I decided it was probably time to get some housework done in preparation for the new arrival, so spent most of the work cleaning kitchens, sorting cupboards etc. Still found time to go for a lovely Valentines meal with Chris (might be the last one we get for a while).
Also been doing lots of baby window-shopping. Monday had a trip to Derby with mum and the girls to check out pushchairs, baby baths, bedding etc and then on Tuesday we headed to IKEA to pick out the furniture for the nursery. Chris' mum has offered to buy a wardrobe and changing unit so we'll be going back over the next month or so to collect them.

My sisters came over yesterday to help me with some last minute painting in the nursery. It's nearly ready for the furniture and finishing touches. I've been comparing nursery accessories on the internet - I hadn't realised how much bedding for a cot can cost! Oh well, that's what the savings are for.

We reach 24 weeks tomorrow. Chris might have felt the baby move a couple of times now but it was a little too soft for him to be sure. I'm going upstairs in a minute to do a tad more painting. I can't wait to see the finished product!
Oh, and for those of you who haven't seen me recently, here is a picture of my current bump-status. Apologies for the outfit, I was ready for bed (Not my best yummy-mummy moment!)

22 weeks today!

Woop woop - 22 weeks today.

I'm pretty sure I can feel Bumpelina jigging around in there now. Although, I wouldn't describe it as fluttering. More like prodding under my belly button - it makes my toes curl!

Nipped into Boots yesterday and bought my first ever pack of nappies - newborn variety. I realise I have a while yet before I will need them, but there was an offer on and I got a free changing bag. And I don't turn down free stuff. And I figure, nappies don't go off! I hadn't realised how many different kinds of nappy there are though. These ones look really small. I hope Bumpy doesn't have a big bottom!

The Story So Far...

Well, I've been meaning to start one of these things since I first found out I was pregnant, and suddenly realised that if I didn't start soon the baby would be at University before I had written a word!

My name is Stacey and I am currently 21 weeks pregnant with my first baby. My husband and I weren't trying to get pregnant for very long before we found out our little family was about to get bigger. I took my first ever pregnancy test at 3.30 in the morning as I just couldn't wait any longer. By then I was already 5 days late on my period so I was pretty sure I knew what the result would be, but I was still so excited that I had to wake my poor other half up to share the news!

The past 21 weeks have been a bit of a blur - 2 scans, 3 appointments with a midwife, we've heard the baby's heartbeat and seen little toes. Last week we found out that we were probably on the pink team. Baby Ireson was a little shy (unlike her mother) so we won't be stocking up on pink clothes yet, but we are quietly confident that we'll have a little girl by the end of June.

I'm starting to get a decent bump on me now, and I might just be starting to feel the first twitchings of movement. Apparently I have something called an Anterior Placenta (basically, the placenta is on top) so it will probably take me a little longer to feel movement than other women, but hopefully there will be more on that in future posts.
